Expertise

Charles is a partner in our London office specialising in trade and trade finance. He specialises in carriage of goods, sale contracts, letters of credit and security over goods. He regularly advises on issues involving physicals and futures, credit risk and trading structures. Charles’ other main area of focus is international arbitration, including ICC and trade arbitrations.

Career

Charles qualified in 1979 at Thomas Cooper. He practised with other leading City firms before rejoining the Thomas Cooper in 1994. He is a member of the ICC UK Committee on Banking Technique and Practice (the committee dealing with the UCP 600) and a former Chairman of the British Maritime Law Association Committee on Arbitration and ADR. He is a Visiting Professor at City University and lectures regularly for many other educational and commercial institutions.
