Expertise

Tom is a managing solicitor in our London office. He has experience of a wide variety of shipping law problems, including casualty work (collisions, groundings, contact with fixed and floating objects) as well as contractual disputes, in particular those arising out of charter parties and bills of lading. He also acts for marine insurers pursuing recovery actions and conducts general commercial litigation, both in London arbitration and in the High Court.

Career

Tom joined Thomas Cooper in June 2007. He qualified as a solicitor in 1993. Tom is also a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and worked in the London marine insurance market both as a claims handler and underwriter from 1977 to 1988. He then attended City University Business School and obtained a Master of Science (distinction) in Shipping, Trade and Finance. Tom worked at Shaw and Croft from 1990 to 2007.
