Expertise

Ira has dealt exclusively with yacht-related legal problems for nearly 10 years. She acts primarily for yacht Insurers and Lloyds Syndicate but also for yacht owners, yards (including manufacturers), marine surveyors and project managers. Ira handles yacht insurance coverage disputes, salvage claims, arrests and other marine-related litigation of a multi-jurisdictional nature, including complex personal injury claims, product liability claims and professional negligence. She is regularly involved in mediating disputes, defended criminal proceedings under the Merchant Shipping Act, as well as adjudicating race and rule arbitrations. Ira has particular expertise in relation to limitation of liability..

Career

Ira joined Thomas Cooper in April 2008 as a Partner having qualified as a Solicitor in 1997. She has an in-depth knowledge of the yachting industry and is an experienced offshore sailor, having sailed extensively as professional crew.

Ira sits as chairman of the British Marine Federation's, Legal Services Committee, and also sits on its Insurance, Financial and Legal Services Association's committee.
