Douglas Bateson

Douglas is a partner and the head of our Athens office. He specialises in all aspects of wet and dry shipping and is a member of our casualty response team. Douglas has experience of a wide variety of shipping problems, from withdrawal and hire disputes, to cargo claims, groundings, fires and total losses. In addition, he has considerable experience in banking.
Career
Douglas became a partner in 1989 after joining the firm as an articled clerk in 1983. He is fluent in Spanish and French and is the Vice President of the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce in Athens. Douglas read law at the University of Manchester.
